Porsche Penske Motorsport wins IWSC season finale, sweeps IMSA Michelin Endurance Championship

Porsche wins race overall, claims podium finishes in GTD Pro and GTD

ATLANTA. Porsche Penske Motorsport ended the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on a high note, claiming victory at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the first time since the start of the program in 2023. Laurens Vanthoor drove the Nr. 6 Porsche 963 through chaotic traffic to cap off a race characterized by an incredible 16 full course cautions. The result also marks Kévin Estre’s first IMSA victory.

The team also claimed all three possible accolades in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Championship after putting forth a relentless effort in what proved to be a very challenging season, with the Nr. 7 Porsche 963 drivers Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich taking the honor.

Porsche customer racing programs in both the GTD Pro and GTD classes also achieved strong results in the season finale. AO Racing competed door to door with Manthey in the last moments of the race in a nail-biting battle for second place, but ultimately the Nr. 911 ran short on fuel in the final lap, forcing a pit stop and deciding the results. The trio of Nick Tandy, Harry King and Alessio Picariello concluded the season with a second place finish in the GTD Pro class after defending their position repeatedly and avoiding becoming ensnared in the many traffic incidents of the race.

Manthey 1st Phorm achieved a second-place finish in the GTD class, putting Porsche on the podium in all three possible classes. The Nr. 912 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera, and Morris Schuring started the race second-from-last in the class and moved methodically through the field over the 10-hour race.
