The new generation of PCCM Plus offers, among other things, comprehensive integration of vehicle-specific functions and is available for more than 300,000 future classics from the 911, Cayman and Boxster model lines from model years 2009 to 2016. Two new devices for the 987.2, 997.2, 981 and 991.1 models are available from Porsche Centres.
The new generation of PCCM Plus is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle architecture. As an alternative to the seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen, the infotainment system can, where fitted as standard, also be operated via the multifunction steering wheel. Personal vehicle settings continue to be supported. For example, navigation instructions and music tracks can be displayed in the instrument cluster.
In addition, the PCCM Plus brings popular display and convenience functions from the current generation of sports cars into the classics of tomorrow: Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are fully integrated and can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi. Depending on country-specific legal requirements, the PCCM Plus also allows YouTube videos to be played while the car is stationary. Another highlight: Porsche exterior colours can be selected for the virtual vehicle on the screen. This ensures that the new PCCM and the vehicle form a unified whole, not only technically, but also visually.
Speed limits are indicated based on map data, while oil temperature and oil pressure can be viewed on the trip screen. In the Boxster and Cayman models, the system supplements the previously purely acoustic parking aid with a visual display of the distance to obstacles on the screen. Another feature is navigation with satellite imagery. The Scenic Roads navigation function enhances driving pleasure by selecting particularly winding panoramic routes.
Porsche also relies on modern technology for connectivity and audio: the system features DAB², HD³, FM and AM dual tuners, Bluetooth® streaming including the display of metadata such as song titles or artists, connections for existing sound systems, and an internal and external microphone. A nano SIM card slot with 4G support and interfaces for external media sources rounds off the functions offered. Map updates can be carried out ‘over the air’.
The new PCCM Plus generation is available in two model-specific versions from Porsche Centres worldwide: for the 911, Cayman and Boxster model years 2012 to 2016 (991.1- and 981-generation models) and model years 2009 to 2013 (997.2- and 987.2-generation models). The availability of individual functions depends on the vehicle model and specification. Certain services also require an active internet connection. Installation at a Porsche Centre is recommended.
