• First Formula E podium for Felipe Drugovich
  • Back-to-back pole positions for Dan Ticktum and Cupra Kiro
  • Nico Müller scores points in P7, Pascal Wehrlein finishes P12

Porsche factory driver Nico Müller secured World Championship points finishing seventh in Sunday’s second race of the Monaco E-Prix. His teammate Pascal Wehrlein missed out on the points in twelfth. Felipe Drugovich achieved his maiden podium in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for customer team Andretti Formula E in second place, with teammate Jake Dennis in P6. Both drivers contributed to Porsche’s points tally in the manufacturers’ standings.

Having qualified P11, Müller became the first driver to take one of two Attack Mode activations on the streets of Monte Carlo, moving to the front of the field by lap 6 in the 28-lap race. Due to contact with a competitor in the Rascasse hairpin, he was shuffled down, eventually taking seventh. Former World Champion Wehrlein started P14. Having moved up into points-scoring positions, he dropped back again, taking the chequered flag in twelfth.

Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum started from pole position as the Briton did on Saturday. Damage after contact and a penalty dropped him outside the points (P14). Teammate Pepe Martí did not finish the race due to a collision. With his maiden Formula E podium on Saturday, Porsche customer teams collected two podium finishes in the Principality.

Porsche hits 100th race milestone
Sunday’s tenth race of the season marked the 100th race of the Porsche factory team in Formula E. During its time in the all-electric championship, which began at the start of the 2019/2020 season, it has taken 15 wins, 38 podiums and 12 pole positions. The team’s greatest success came last season, when it secured the Teams’ World Championship, after Pascal Wehrlein had taken the drivers’ title the year before.

Racing for Charity
Under the motto Racing for Charity, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is making a strong social statement in the current Formula E season, supporting seriously ill children worldwide. For every race lap completed by its two factory-run Porsche 99X Electric, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer donates 400 euros to the charitable organisations Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V., and the Ferry Porsche Foundation. After Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller completed the maximum number of laps at the tenth race of the season in Monaco, the donation amount stands at 261,200 Euros.

Comments on the Monaco E-Prix
Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E: “We managed to get some valuable points today with Nico in P7 after a strong race. Unfortunately, after a good practice session, we had a bad qualifying. Both drivers reported they had no grip, which meant we started P11 and P14. Nico made very quick progress and got into the lead of the race before fighting for points. This was despite being pushed down the order at one stage after a collision. Overall, this was not what we wanted here. But there are still plenty of races left and we will come back fighting stronger. Once again, thanks to all the team, both at the track and back at the factory.”

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche factory driver (#94): “A tough weekend overall. No points for myself, which has not happened for a very long time in back-to-back races. But that’s Formula E, and that’s racing. We try to control the things we can control and focus on them. We will regroup and bounce back for the next race.”

Nico Müller, Porsche factory driver (#51): “It started promisingly and I felt great in the car during practice. I think we looked like the benchmark at that stage. But then we had an unpleasant surprise in qualifying, lost grip and performance of both cars. It’s something we need to try and find the answer for, because it was unexpected to be qualifying in the midfield. It made our lives harder during a chaotic race. The team did some great calls with strategy, and we did some great teamwork with Pascal. I appreciate that. We were in contention for a podium, but then we had contact with Jean-Éric Vergne and it sent me into the wall. It cost me nine places and that was our podium hopes gone. It just makes us even hungrier and we’ll come back stronger.”
