Chester Kieffer takes victory, championship to be decided in Sunday's final race

Saturday at the Hockenheimring belonged to Chester Kieffer (L/Schumacher CLRT) in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. In sunshine and temperatures of 14 degrees Celsius, the Luxembourger secured victory in the penultimate race of the season in his Porsche 911 Cup, finishing ahead of Wouter Boerekamps (NL/Team GP Elite) and Robert de Haan (NL/Proton Competition).

“I made a perfect start and also got away well after the safety car period. I've now extended my lead in the Rookie standings, which makes me very happy,” said Kieffer after the podium ceremony. With Robert Ader, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, watching on, the 20-year-old Talent Pool driver claimed his second victory of the season following his triumph at the Nürburgring. “I really enjoy being part of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. The commitment shown by the drivers and teams is impressive. The fact that the champion will only be decided in the final race underlines just how competitive the series is,” explained Ader. The title fight remains open until Sunday's final race: South African Keagan Masters (Proton Competition) leads the standings with 223 points, ahead of Dutch Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT) on 212 points. All other drivers are now out of championship contention.

Kieffer started the 15th race of the season from pole position. He made a strong start and took the lead of the 29-car field. After five laps, a full-course yellow period was introduced following an earlier collision, before the safety car was deployed later in the race. Racing resumed on lap nine, with Kieffer maintaining his lead ahead of Boerekamps and de Haan. Title contender Schuring came under repeated pressure and temporarily dropped to sixth place, but crossed the finish line in fourth after 30 minutes of racing. Following the race, Schuring received a five-second penalty for a jump start, dropping him to seventh place. His direct rival Masters started from tenth on the grid and was ultimately classified fourth. Theo Oeverhaus (D/ID Racing) made even more progress through the field: the driver from Osnabrück fought his way up from 15th on the grid to finish fifth, ahead of Alexander Tauscher (D/Target).

The ProAm drivers provided plenty of excitement on the final lap. Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite) and Michael Essmann (D/Team75 Bernhard) battled for every metre until Essmann ran off the track and lost considerable ground. Kai Pfister (D/Proton Competition) slipped past to finish second behind Spreng, with Essmann completing the podium in third. Essmann's advantage over Spreng in the ProAm standings has now been reduced to just six points. The Rookie title also remains undecided: Kieffer leads with 273 points, ahead of Sam Jongejan (NL/Team75 Bernhard) on 257 points.

Schuring set the fastest lap of the race in 1:40.707 minutes, adding to his tally in the “Fastest Lap Award”. The driver who records the most fastest race laps over the course of the season receives a “Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition”.

The 16th and final race gets underway on Sunday (11 October 2026) at 12:28 CEST. Fans can follow the championship decider live on the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland YouTube channel.
