South Africa's Keagan Masters (Proton Competition) finished second, while Matheus Ferreira (Team GP Elite) from Brazil celebrated third place. With four races remaining, Masters continues to lead the championship on 197 points ahead of Porsche Junior Schuring (183 points) and Germany's Theo Oeverhaus (ID Racing, 175 points).
"It was a good weekend for me with important points. Third place on Saturday, victory on Sunday – hopefully it continues like this," said Schuring after the podium ceremony. It marked the Dutchman's fifth race win of the current season. The 19-year-old also set the fastest lap of the race. At the final race weekend of the season, the driver who records the highest number of fastest laps will receive the “Fastest Lap Award” together with a Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition.
Masters secured his eighth podium finish of the season in the twelfth race, including two victories. The 26-year-old championship leader is not only successful on the race track but also on the golf course. At the Norisring, he met golf YouTuber Kevin Werner and invited him to take a seat in his 520 hp Porsche 911 Cup. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm ready to start the race," Werner joked to his community.
Third-placed Ferreira was delighted with the support from his family back home in Brazil. "I gained two positions right after the start and then delivered a mistake-free race. My family is watching from home and keeping their fingers crossed for me. It makes standing on the podium even more special," said the Talent Pool driver. Behind Ferreira, Dutch rookie Sam Jongejan (Team75 Bernhard) finished fourth to claim the rookie class victory.
The drive through the field of the day came from reigning champion Robert de Haan, who competed for Proton Competition this weekend as a replacement driver. After an incident through no fault of his own on Saturday forced the Dutchman to switch cars, he had to start from the back of the field. After 23 laps, he was classified tenth out of the 29 starters. Michael Essmann (D/Team75 Bernhard) claimed ProAm victory on Sunday ahead of Kai Pfister (D/Proton Competition) and Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite).
"The narrow circuit produced exciting races with plenty of action in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. We have already seen six different winners after twelve races, which underlines the competitive level of our one-make series. The fans can already look forward to our next event," said Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Following the summer break, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland heads to the Nürburgring. From 14 to 16 August, the Nürburgring sprint circuit will provide the stage for the new Porsche 911 Cup. Drivers from 15 nations have competed in the highly competitive one-make series this season, ranging from Australia and South Africa to Vietnam.
