Victory at Spa: Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring Extends Supercup Lead

Flynt Schuring claimed his second win of the season in round four of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. On the Formula 1 circuit at Spa‑Francorchamps in Belgium, the Dutchman took victory ahead of Luxembourg’s Chester Kieffer. Fellow Dutchman Robert de Haan crossed the finish line in third place. Former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve finished 24th.

Flynt Schuring made perfect use of the advantage of starting from pole position on the approximately seven-kilometre circuit, the longest on the Supercup calendar. The Dutchman defended the lead into the opening corner and the 19-year-old subsequently built a small gap. He also kept his composure at the restart following a Safety Car period and was not caught out by the chasing pack. Schuring eventually won by almost three seconds from his Schumacher CLRT team-mate Chester Kieffer. The Porsche Junior also set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 2:19.732 minutes.

Kieffer stepped onto the Supercup podium for the first time in only his fourth race in the series. At the same time, the 19-year-old Luxembourger celebrated his maiden victory in the Rookie classification, drawing level with Andrea Bristot at the top of the Rookie standings. The Italian from Dinamic Motorsport finished thirteenth at Spa‑Francorchamps.

Robert de Haan was the only driver in the 29-car field able to stay in touch with Schuring and Kieffer. However, the BWT Lechner Racing driver was unable to put the two black Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars ahead of him under pressure. After twelve laps, the winner of the previous round at the Red Bull Ring finished third. The chasing group was led by the second Porsche Junior, Finland’s Marcus Amand (BWT Lechner Racing). Behind France’s Paul Cauhaupe (Martinet by Alméras), his team-mate Theo Oeverhaus finished sixth. At the halfway point of the season, the German occupies second place in the championship standings ahead of Robert de Haan.

“Congratulations to Flynt Schuring on his second victory. I am also particularly pleased to see Chester Kieffer finish second – for the third time this season, a rookie has stood on the overall podium. That provides the perfect foundation for an exciting second half of the season,” commented Oliver Schwab, Project Manager Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

The fifth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup takes place already next weekend (24–26 July 2026) at the Hungaroring near the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Driver comments after the race:

Flynt Schuring (NLD/Schumacher CLRT), 1st: “I made a great start and was able to pull away slightly from the cars behind. I managed the same again at the restart after the Safety Car period. On a circuit with so many fast corners, it is an advantage to run in clean air when you are leading. That allowed me to make the most of the aerodynamics of my Porsche 911 Cup.”

Chester Kieffer (LUX/Schumacher CLRT), 2nd, Rookie classification winner: “I’m very proud of my first Rookie victory. My main objective in the race was to keep Robert de Haan behind me. Because I managed my tyres well, I could achieve exactly that.”

Robert de Haan (NLD/BWT Lechner Racing), 3rd: “I gave it everything, but the two black Porsche 911 Cup cars were simply too quick today. I think my chances will be much better at the next race at the Hungaroring.”

Marcus Amand (FIN/BWT Lechner Racing), 4th: “I started fourth and finished fourth, so the result is acceptable. However, the leading trio were clearly faster than I was today, and I can’t be satisfied with that.”
